We are always looking for talented and enthusiastic researchers at all levels to get involved in the many projects happening in the lab. Interested candidates are encouraged to first read our most recent publications to get a sense for the current projects available in the lab. Then, please email Dr. Pyle directly to inquire about a position, briefly describing your research interests in the lab and including your CV.

Postdoctoral Candidates & Research Scientists

Postdoctoral candidates and research scientists are encouraged to apply. We welcome candidates from all life science and chemistry backgrounds.

Graduate Students

We accept rotation students from all chemistry, biology/life science, and biomedical engineering programs. To ensure the best experience and proper pairing with a mentor, we recommend contacting Dr. Pyle early in the rotation sequence.

Undergraduate Students

Yale undergraduates are expected to take MCDB 200 Molecular Biology prior to or during research in the Pyle Lab. The topics covered in the class are foundational for the research in the lab and for those wanting to pursue a career in molecular biology. To get the most out of a research experience in the lab, we recommend that undergraduates start during their first or second year, commit to a research project for at least 2 years, and dedicate at least one full summer in the lab.

Lab Environment Philosophy

In the Pyle Lab, we strongly believe that science is for everyone. We believe a great laboratory does not discriminate based on socioeconomic status, gender, ethnicity, or the origin of one’s passport. We take immense pride in having a multi-cultural work environment with members from diverse backgrounds and experiences. We are biologists, chemists, physicists, engineers, and computer scientists. A diverse workplace environment is an incubator for innovative ideas.

We strongly encourage and welcome candidates from all groups and backgrounds to join our lab. In the Pyle Lab, we strive to cultivate an environment where all members can excel and achieve their goals. We hope the Pyle Lab is a space where members are encouraged to voice their ideas, seek help from colleagues, and discuss science, experiments, and life beyond the bench. As a lab community, each member is essential and contributes valuable skills, ideas, and to the esprit de corps. In addition to growing as a lab community, we aim to contribute to the greater scientific community at Yale and beyond through regular collaborations, attending scientific meetings, and networking with colleagues across scientific fields.

As part of the Yale community, the Pyle Lab strictly adheres to Yale University policy against discrimination and harassment. In addition, Yale University Resource Office on Disabilities (ROD) will help individuals with disabilities to remove all the barriers to their full participation in university life. Pyle Lab staff members also routinely attend workshops offered by Yale University Training and Management System on 1) harassment free workplace and 2) preventing and responding to sexual misconduct. Outside of the lab, several of our lab members have participated in science outreach activities with the WiSTEM initiative and Pathways to Science.
